Raya 2013, First day of Syawal

*Warning: Lots of photos ahead*

This year’s Eid-ul-Fitr was a new one for me. A new celebration. Typically, my family and I would drive 8 hours long to my grandma’s in Kelantan. However this year, I am not following my family. Instead, I celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with my husband, Eddie, just the two of us, in Shah Alam.

Last year, we celebrated Eid 3956 miles away from each other. I was in Melbourne, my family was in Mekka, while my husband was in Penang at his grandparents’. This year, Alhamdulillah, I get to celebrate Eid with my husband. We didn’t follow my family because I couldn’t stand being on the road without puking and the flight tickets were sold out.

The eve of Raya, Eddie treated me to a nice last iftar at Chilli’s, Paradigm Mall. Thanks hun, it was really nice.

After iftar, we went to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and people we going all zombie on last minute Raya shopping, it was CRAZY! It was extremely packed, it gave me nightmares that night. Literally.

The morning of Eid-ul-Fitr, we both had some cereal for breakfast and went for Eid-ul-Fitr prayer. No need to pity us for having cereal for breakfast, I didn’t bother getting any ketupat or rendang because nobody is gonna eat those. Yes, we are simple like that. After prayer, I took my time putting make up on my face while Eddie was.. hmm I saw him lying on the bed but not sure what he was up to haha.

Eddie almost wanted to snuggle in bed all day when I forced him to go to Syad’s house. We took tons of pictures first. Maklumlah, Raya pertama bersama kan. Hehe. *Tersipu malu* Siap dah bunting lagi. Haha

Typically, in my family we would have tons of family potrait the morning of Eid. So that’s exactly what we did!

Wait, actually, it’s the THREE of us! Eddie, baby and me. Oh, ummi and abah can’t wait to see you!

Now for my Raya OOTD.

This lycra kurung peplum is a ready-to-wear by Jakel. It’s *quite* pregnant friendly. I had to get it in Large size, otherwise my tummy won’t be able to fit into the skirt. Plus, the loose cutting helps to conceal my my extra large tummy. Ha ha ha.

Eddie also wanted to do this spinning shot. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out as well as mine.

In fact, it looked kinda sissy for him. hahaha! Cute, baby, cute.

Then we were off to Syad’s. Ah, finally, it felt like raya. There were quite alot of people, it was happening.

syads

Thank you Syad for the food and hospitality. It was marvelous!

Then we went to Intan’s. Coincidentally she, too, is celebrating raya in Shah Alam. Oh, how much I missed her! She has been my best friend since we were 11 years old. She’s my childhood friend and although we now rarely see each other, our bonds are still strong.

Intan was a little crazy for my bump, though. She’s a HUGE kids lover, so I can understand why. I had to tell her to stop being obsessed with my baby (who is still very much in my womb), for FIVE.  TIMES. HAHAHA.

After Intan’s, we went to my in-laws in KL to greet my in-laws who went to Mekka for umrah. Later that night, we had a Raya dinner at Makan Kitchen at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. We also got a nice spot!

Sorry for the crappy picture. It’s from my phone. I forgot I had my camera in my bag. Of course, I had too much food by the end of the night. So did Eddie. Muahahaah

The dinner concluded our Eid-ul-Fitr. So there you go, a simple, moderate Eid celebration, in my opinion. Nothing fancy. Just a day with friends and family. 🙂 Let me know about how your raya was! I would love to know how other people celebrate raya 😀

p.s, I got duit raya this year! Weee! *dances*

p.p.s, my husband gave it to me.
