My first wordpress theme for public. Yay! It’s free! (which is the best part). *sigh* I kept re-checking the files in case if I miss something. I hope not!

About Simply Candylicious

This theme is designed to valid XHTML and CSS and tested in Mozilla and IE7 in windows. It is made very minimal since well, it’s for the public and I tried to make it as flexible and as usable as possible to suit everybody’s need. Plus, it’s faster to load!
This theme is actually based on Wordpress Default’s theme so if you want to install plugins such as ajaxed commenting and all, it won’t be much trouble for you! This single column theme is sweeten up with lots of delicious candy colours. Hence, the name. So, if you dare to be different, go, use this theme.

Please report any bugs, if there are any. You might want to check this page because I MIGHT update the theme. This theme is made compatible with wordpress 2.0 and above (I hope). I’ve only tested it in wordpress 2.2, tho. If it’s not working for your version of wordpress, please let me know. Please leave your comments on what you think of this theme to help me improve and produce better themes in the future. Thank you!

Using This Theme

This is a very ready-to-use theme. Even if you are very, very new to wordpress.

Download the theme and unzip it
Open about.txt and edit the file. Write whatever that you like.
Upload /simply candylicious/ into wordpress/wp-content/themes/ directory
Login to your wordpress. Go to presentation and activate the theme
If you haven’t create your links and archives pages yet, go to write >> pages and create an empty page with the slug “links” (without the quotes) and select links for the template (you can find it on your right at the very same page). Do the same for your archives page. The page will then automatically created. And the link to the page will magically appear.
Oh, that’s all!

If you want to change the number of posts to appear on archive, (that’s the page when you are viewing posts in a specific category, or a month) go to options » reading and edit the posts per page setting.

Note: You cannot change the number of posts to display on the main page. If you want to display multiple posts you will need to edit the index.php file. To do so, you must delete line 3 of the file, which is:

<?php query_posts('posts_per_page=1'); ?>

This piece of code overwrites the posts per page setting. If you want to display different number of posts on the index page than the archive page, simply change the number 1 to the number of posts you want to display. Change the number to -1, to show all posts. Simple, right?

In the main page, I didn’t include the codes to navigate to the next and previous entries. This is because, the link won’t work with the post query tags (the tag above). However, you can still add them below the line <?php endwhile; ?>

This theme is made valid XHTML and CSS. So try not to spoil it with your posts alright?

Oh man, you girl rocks! You definitely got our hearts with this lovely theme! If I didn’t have a talent or were just hosted, I would be so keen on downloading it! It looks really nifty and professional. The colors makes it even better.

You’re a really good web designer! I forgot to mention in my previous comment how wonderful your current layout is. Well, now I am! It’s amazing.

I’m sure lots of people are going to download your themes.

the theme rosak and cannot be used in IE - navigation dia tak nampak… elsewhere, it looks fine.. like flisterz said, good start.

your own theme pun ade cacat kat IE (version 6 and lower la) - better check that out too.

You need to work on the colors, Aisyah. They’re clashing than complimenting which is a fundamental weakness. This, I’m referring to the lower part of the blog.

As for the comments area, I like it too. Very childish and fun. :)

erm the design is too simple and just a little touch on the navigation. Not bad for the 1st free wordpress theme from you. Hope you will provide us more free wordpress theme, can i request web 2.0 wp theme with 3 column..hehhee

I did use this theme for one of my blog and had some bug on it. Not sure whether its from my site or the theme it self..
When I click the previous post navigation button on the main page it will redirect to 404 page.
another thing is..how to increase postie on front page? its show only one post by default?

oh. there’s a file named home.php. just delete that file and it should be okay.
I accidentally included that file. silly me. sorry.

And oh, as for the main page, yeah, it shows only one post by default because I’ve added a line of code that overwrites the setting in the admin. the instructions are here in this post.

I choose this theme but appears this error on the mainpage:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: the_title_attribute() in /home/.skink/tuffgong/inversionedirotta.com/idr/wp-content/themes/simply candylicious/index.php on line 7

What can i do?
