I don’t read the newspaper.
I don’t read the newspapers.
Ok, fine. I do read the newspaper. Twice a month, at most!
My mum always nag me, “Aisyah, you are a big girl now. You have to read the newspaper, you know. Keep yourself updated with the world. All you do is sit in front of your laptop and stay naked in your room all day. You get nothing.” So, with my heavy, big fat ass, I pull out some section of the newspaper and read it. Even for just 5 minutes. I read the headlines and close it the minute I yawn. LOL.
Just now, when I was watching tv, my mum came home from grocery shopping, she said, “Hey, cik adik manis. haha. Aisyah, why don’t you read the newspaper? Read it la.” I just giggled and continued watching tv. Yes, I’m a couch potato. What a shame. I’m turning 18 and I still don’t read the newspaper. Even kids nowadays read the newspaper.
I rarely read the newspaper so my knowledge about what’s happening around me is rather narrow. or none. Which is why I’m slightly nervous about the interview tomorrow. My sister (she’s taking SPM this year and she’s currently in the boarding school) said that the interviewers might test our general knowledge. Damn it. It’s Art and Design. Ask about colours, objects and stuffs la. Wait, I think the general knowledge is easier. Unless if they ask my opinion on a certain issue. Then I’m dead.
God, I’m so ignorant. How about you, do you read the newspaper?
So, today, I’m going to prepare some answers to the common questions so I’m more confident and so I know what answer to give to them just so I won’t go, “um…um…um… my name is… um…. er… Aisyah.” hahaha. That’s so embarrassing. And now, I’m off to read the newspaper grab some chocolate chip cookies. yeay!
Hey, I like this vintage effect! hehe.
p.s, pictures are edited by me!

Have something to say? Come on, don't be shy. Just say it out loud!

I hope your interview went well. I don’t really read newspapers either because I’m a cynical political science student who thinks the media is out to blind us with propaganda. LOL. Actually, I do read the headlines from 5 different papers from 5 different countries - just to get different perspectives.
The best way, really, is to start with CNN.com or BBC.co.uk. They both have a video function for you to watch the latest news or get the papers read out to you in full. And best of all - it’s all free!
Thought, I have to admit, I actually like the New Straits Times a lot. It’s really well written.

aisyah… good luck for the interview.
anyway… you are online most of the time, why don’t you read newspaper online then? ever since i started working i seldom read the actual physical newspaper (the actual paper format) anymore. i go online, hit my rss feeder and read three newspaper online. its easy, hassle free and cheap! (oklah… im a bit cheapo, refusing to buy the actual newspaper… muahaha…)

aisyah dear,

kamu memang dimestikan membaca at least a newspaper. yes, shandye was rite. you can just read it online nowadays. (thanx to technology) huhuhuhu… and yeah, by having a constant general knowledge no matter regarding what issues, it’s kinda a bonus point for anybody who wants to tackle the interviewer. dont just read and struggle to hafal all the contents. but understand it why and what happen to the issues.

I read a lot of newspapers back then but for now I rarely even bother to look at the headlines :D I’m too busy spending my time online, and there’s always a lot of free news sites where I can learn more about what’s going on around the world. Ivy had it right - I kind of believe that the media is controlled and is out there to blind us all, cudgel us into believing something which is not exactly the real truth. I read CNN and BBC for most of the time.
Anyway I’ve been to an interview (and I screwed it up, if you’re interested) and the interviewer didn’t ask a single question about general knowledge. I guess what really matters to them is your portfolio and your personality
good luck and take care!

Yeay..Reason why i do not buy local newspaper was not all news were right!! (malaysian politic issue gossip). Beside that, i only manage to read sports article..err and JOB classified. For me “The Sun” was the BEST! Compact!! BTW its fucking free! huhu

typically, i will flip to the back first which is the sports section. and then, maybe i will get the mood into reading more heavy stuffs. most of the time it worked for me.
err.. maybe u could try reading about fashion or whatever you like first.. and then sneak peak to the front page. hehe. i recommend the star. their content is very very interesting.
about the interview, dont worry that much. if the interview is about art and design, i dont think they are going to ask you about politics and stuff. except if there is a new buzz related. oh try to have an idol artist or something.
wow, it’s long. :)

I hope the interview went well. I don’t read the newspaper either. I’ll probably just skim through it at look at the photos. My Mom keeps nagging me to read as well. She purchases 3 different newspapers each day. It just doesn’t appeal to me. The content looks quite boring, enough to make me fall asleep. =P

I rarely read the newspaper. use the net lah!. better . plus save your money.
Then again , maybe our parents think the other way, my father always read the newspaper , sumtimes it takes about 1 or 2 hours to finish it. Not just one , but almost all of it . Star , nst , utusan , and lot more(just can’t remember which one). Maybe that’s why they are so knowledgable. =)
